Household preparedness for future earthquake disaster risk using an extended theory of planned behavior

The study aims to predict household earthquake preparedness in Malaysia using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) its original form and an extended model including community participation community-agency trust. A survey was undertaken 2019 with 550 Malaysian residential households four locations. structural equation modeling (SEM) method used this for analysis data. findings demonstrated support TPB showed that attitude, subjective norms, participation, trust were significant predictors intention engage preparedness. In both models, is important positive contributor actual has shown that, contrary our expectations, perceived behavioral control models no effect on intent prepare. results also displayed constructs contributed 26% 32% variance intentions prepare behavior, whilst inclusions slightly increased explained by 31.2% 39.5% respectively. As a result, provided good fit data explains better amounts comparison model. Adding considerably contributes improving understanding future disaster risk.
